Seventh Stop: Quang Ngai

April 28. Quy Nhon to Quang Ngai. 207km.

From Quy Nhon, Scott and Charlie decided to head inland to Pleiku and take the Ho Chi Minh Trail north over a few days to Hoi An, while the rest continued up the coast with easier rides.

The ride out of Quy Nhon to Quang Ngai was just another ride along the Highway 1; more trucks, more buses, more roadworks. We made good progress and knocked out the ride in a little over four hours without incident.

The town itself was nice - relatively big with zero tourists. Walking down the street I constantly had people saying hello; even those riding by on scooters would shout out hello as they went past!

We managed to find a nha nghi (hotel) with four single beds for $3aud each, bargain.

That night we decided to try to find somewhere to grab a drink. Sonny googled a club nearby - Oasis. We rocked up and knew we were in over our heads. Suited bouncers at the door. They welcomed us in regardless, wearing dingy singlets, shorts and thongs the lot of us.

They walked us to a table with a bottle of spirits on it and were seconds from opening it - we quickly declined and asked for a drinks menu. 2mil dong for a bottle ($100USD). We opted for the beers; Heineken for 90k, still rich.

They bought out about ten cans, expecting us to drink more. They would pour the drinks out for you. The guys that were smoking had their cigs lit for them by staff. This was a proper high end club, more nuts than what I saw in Vegas!

I finished my drink and went to take a photo - in that time the girl had cracked another can and started pouring. Another 90k gone. Luckily the boys split it three ways. This was the most expensive place I've been to in South East Asia to date.

We were the only westerners in the place, but I think we'll have to find another place to get drunk with Vietnamese...
